Our Story: Empowering Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
At Smiles Like Yours, we are dedicated to helping individuals with developmental disabilities developmental disabilities (DD) create memorable experiences in a safe and secure environment.
We collaborate closely with the DD community to provide exceptional adult support services and organize special activities that foster social interaction, build life skills, and encourage independence.
Our founder, a former caregiver, saw firsthand how the system often fell short. While working in an institution, she noticed that caregivers recorded activities like “John went to the park,” but in reality, John and others were left sitting idle all day. These experiences fueled her passion to create something better.
Determined to give individuals a real life filled with genuine experiences, she started small—driving three members in her personal car on weekend outings.
Today, Smiles Like Yours offers your loved ones the opportunity to actively participate in community activities, build social skills, and live a life full of adventure and growth.

From tenant screening to securing housing, we support individuals in achieving and sustaining integrated, independent living.

- Tenant screening & planning: Help with identifying preferences and overcoming barriers.
- Housing search & application assistance: Guidance through the process of finding and applying for housing.
- Transition support: Assistance with moving, setting up, and learning about tenancy.
- Education & training: Training on tenant rights, household management, and lease compliance.
- Dispute resolution & recertification support: Help with landlord issues, preventing eviction, and recertifying housing.
Community Guide
We provide direct assistance to promote self-determination by connecting individuals with community resources.

Our Locations
Smiles Like Yours proudly serves individuals in Virginia counties including Chesterfield, Richmond, Henrico, and surrounding areas. Our clients include individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as their families and caregivers.


We specialize in supporting individuals who need varying levels of assistance, from those seeking more independence to those who require 24/7 care.
Eligibility Requirements
In order to be eligible to access services through SMILES LIKE YOURS, prospective members should be:
- Stable enough that medical and/or healthcare needs can be managed by Smiles Like Yours’ staff, who are not licensed medical professionals
- Able to participate in scheduled activities with no more than average physical assistance. We are wheelchair friendly.
- Funded by one of the three DD waivers, or be able to pay privately for services.
